Candidate Survey Responses

RESPONSES TO THE 2026 ATPE CANDIDATE SURVEY:

1. What do you consider your most significant contributions to Pre-K–12 education from your time in public service?

My most significant contributions to Pre-K–12 education during my time in public service involved preparing children to acquire exceptional reading and writing skills. These skills are the building blocks for learning all foundation courses and are essential for preparing students for lifelong success as knowledgeable, contributing citizens who find their own success and happiness. I’m also grateful for my time as the Texas State Board of Education Member for District 14, through which I can work on behalf of all students in Texas.

2. If elected in 2026, what will your top priorities be for Pre-K–12 education?

My top priorities for Pre-K–12 education will be to restore public education back to a diffusion of knowledge in literature, mathematics, science, and history using a balanced approach between textbooks and technology. Additionally, I will work to restore teachers' autonomy and ability to teach students using their professional training and experience. Furthermore, I will restore a small government approach and give local ISD control back to parents, teachers, and community citizens – not government bureaucrats.

3. Do you believe Texas public schools should receive additional funding? If so, from what source should the state provide this funding, and should that funding be earmarked at the state level or provided to districts in a matter that provides them with discretion as to how it's spent?

I believe Texas public schools should receive additional funding, along with no-strings-attached teacher salary increases. Our teachers want to better the lives of children, and I aim to provide them the tools to do so. To help with additional funding, Robin Hood Recapture should be repealed, which will allow all local tax revenue to remain in local cities.
